RV Camping - Westchester County Is The Place To Be

Despite the close proximity of Westchester County to Yew York City, it does make for a very good and attractive RV camping site in the area. Westchester County does have a lot to offer nature lovers and people looking for all forms of camping.

RV camping at Westchester County can be a lot of fun and convenient too because the vast expanse of the RV camping park offers a lot of facilities to the RV campers who visit the park in thousands every year. Irrespective of the park you choose to camp in, you will have full excess to all the facilities any other park has to offer. Croton Park and Ward Pound Ridge are to of the popular parks at Westchester County, these parks have a vast range of hook-ups and the rates vary according to the time you need to use the facility.

Naturally, locating a good camping site for your RV is just the first accomplishment of your trip. For this there are maps and instructions available at the Park office and you can easily locate good camping spots with the aid of these facilities. Once you have decided on a spot, you can park your camper or RV and then explore the country side.

There are many activities to take part in, and you literally have a choice of what you want to choose to do. Perhaps you could start with the Seven Wonders of Westchester. These are the seven most popular sites in the Park. These include; Caramoor Center for the Arts, the Hudson River Museum, the Katonah Museum of Art, Kykuit, Lyndhurst, Neuberger Museum of Art, Philipsburg Manor, and the Performing Arts Center. Scores of people visit these sites daily. Then there is 'Playland', which the first ever planned amusement park of the Unites States.

Then there are the scores of American Revolutionary War sites. These sites are easily reachable from any of the camping sites of Westchester County. If you are there for Independence Day, this is the place to celebrate your freedom. Some of the best places to visit are Thomas Paine's Cottage and Patriots Park. After visiting these places you can get back to the camp and continue your celebrations with some burgers and a BBQ and perhaps watch or take part in the County's firework display.

Westchester Camping County has a few words of advice for their patrons who visit the site in thousands each year. The peak season for RV camping is the entire summer months, and also during the week ends, and you want to get yourself a good camping spot, ensure that you make reservations well in advance. Millions of people are vying for the very same spot you have your heart set on. So, reserve in advance to avoid hours of driving around the park to locate a suitable camping site for your RV.

There is just something so incredibly comforting about spending time in these scenic playgrounds. Another one of the most popular New York state park campgrounds is Moreau Lake State Park, which has been listed as one of the top 100 campgrounds in the U.S. This incredible camping site is known for its hardwood forests and tranquil grounds, along with its pristine beachfront. At Moreau Lake, you can enjoy hiking, boating, cross country skiing, and even ice fishing. The site also features a wooden pavilion which can accommodate as many as 120 people. It's also a user-friendly site, since vacationers can easily rent fishing gear, snowshoes, beach lounges, and beach umbrellas. Meanwhile, the famed Lake Shore Cottage boasts a refrigerator, stove, bathroom with shower, fireplace, and screened porch.

Top 5 Places to go Camping in New York State.

When most people think about New York State, they think of the largest city in the United States, New York City. Then they usually think of smog, large buildings, overcrowding, and bad attitudes. However this is not the only thing that New York State has to offer. Many places in New York are very scenic, as well as being very peaceful and quiet. Many of these places are great spots to go camping. The top 5 places to go camping in New York State are:

Heckscher State Park – This State Park is located in East Islip, New York. Heckscher State Park has been rated as one of the top 100 campgrounds in the United States. Swimming, hiking, biking, and playground facilities can be found here, as well as nice trails to walk your dog, as long as you keep your dog on a leash.

Wildwood State Park – Wildwood is a wonderful place to go camping if you really like to go camping in the wilderness, because the park is comprised of almost 600 acres of undeveloped land. Swimming, fishing, and hiking are all activities that are offered in Wildwood State Park. The park is open all year round, but camping season is only from April to October.

Hither Hills State Park – Located in Montauk, New York, Hither Hills State Park was rated among the best campgrounds in the United States. Many outdoor activities are available in this park including playing fields, bridle paths, nature trails, and fishing. Skiing is allowed during the winter and hunting is allowed during permitted times.

Letchworth State Park – Letchwork State Park is located along the Genesee River, 35 miles south of Rochester. This park is amazingly beautiful with canyons, rivers, and waterfalls. You can camp under the stars, or stay in one of the very nice inns in the area. Many activities are available here as well, including whitewater rafting, canoeing, hot air ballooning, and swimming.

Allegany State Park – Allegany State Park is located off of I-86, exits 18, 19, and 20. The Quaker and the Red House areas are very well developed with cabins, playgrounds, and inns for your camping pleasure. There are also many activities available including endangered bird watching, picnicking, hiking, hunting, canoeing, and horseback riding.
