The Grand Canyon - A Perfect Getaway
Tuesday, February 27, 2007, 11:44 PM - Arizona
The Grand Canyon is one of the best places to visit on your family holiday. This amazing location was carved over thousands of years. It is beautiful. The many activities it has to offer can be pleasurable for the whole family. The canyon experience is bigger than just the visit, it is the full body experience you can treat your senses to during and after your visit. You will be making memories for years to come as you seek solace in the vast spaces of the Grand Canyon. There are several good reasons to make the Grand Canyon your next family holiday.

The first reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family holiday is the accessibility options for everyone. Because the Grand Canyon is quite large, facilities vary by location. The National Park Service offers wheel chairs for free, and you can obtain temporary parking permits for the ease of your special needs visitors. There are many programs that are specifically designed for visitors with special needs, and several of the overlooks and scenic spots have wheel chair accessible routes.

Another reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is because of the educational programs offered. The National Park Service has designed some wonderful environmental educational programs specifically for you and your family. They can help you and family members understand the importance of preserving the canyon while explaining some of the canyon's mysteries to even the youngest of participants.

A third reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is the Junior Ranger programs available just for your kids. Once your kids participate in the program, they will know how to help preserve our national parks for years to come. Moreover, they learn fun facts about the Grand Canyon, participate in some great activities, and can act as representatives of the Grand Canyon to everyone they know. They get a special badge, and they get to participate in a swearing in ceremony to help them feel special.

A fourth reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is the history behind the canyon. You and your family can learn about the forming of the park. You can also investigate current preservation methods as well as current archaeological study methods. You can learn how the changes in the Canyon have been documented throughout the years, and the cultures it has served as a center for over the course of time.

A fifth reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is the number of exercise related activities you can engage in while you're at the canyon. You can go whitewater rafting, biking, or hiking. All of these will not only allow you a closer relationship with the location, they will also help your family to realize the importance of exercise in nature within their own lives.

A sixth reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is the availability of auto touring. There are a number of areas in the Canyon you can visit from the comfort of your car. This means no special equipment, no complaining about the long walks or the heat. It will just be you and your family in the environment of your vehicle while taking in the sites of the Canyon.

A seventh reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation choice is the lovely camping opportunities it offers. If you and your family love go camping, the Grand Canyon is the place to do it. They offer everything from cabin style camping to RV parks to traditional tent camping. Once your camp site is set up, there are a number of great camping activities to engage in including picnicking, swimming, and best of all, hiking in the shadow of the Canyon. For a new experience, try a mule ride to the bottom with a camp out overnight. You simply cannot beat the beauty of the canyon from a camper's perspective.

An eighth reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation is the wildlife viewing opportunities you will have. In addition to being a beautiful spot for bird watching, the canyon approximately 355 bird, 89 mammal, 47 reptile, 9 amphibian, 17 fish (including five native species), and thousands of aquatic and terrestrial invertebrate species. This can mean a fun learning experience for you and your family.

A ninth reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is the viewing of the natural environment. The Grand Canyon is one of the greatest natural features on our planet, and there is a lot to learn from it. By seeing the canyon, you will learn about types of rock, erosion, and desert habitats. This will help sharpen your science skills.

The final reason to make the Grand Canyon your next family vacation spot is the number of air tours available. Seeing this natural wonder from the ground is great, but seeing it from a helicopter or a plane will make your vacation more memorable than ever.

Plan your next vacation to the Grand Canyon and you won't be sorry.

Camping: An Enjoyable And Fulfilling Outdoor Activity For Both Young And Old.
Sunday, February 18, 2007, 02:11 AM - General
Camping is fun, exciting, and full of adventures. Many people choose to go for camping trips for their vacations. After every trip, they would feel delighted, relaxed and recharged. Although you can choose to go for a camping trip alone, it will certainly be more enjoyable if you go with a group of people and share the experience with them.

Camping enables you to experience the simple life with a slower pace. For a short period of time, you need to change your way of living with the chance to get in touch with nature and experience the serenity of natural surroundings. You will have the opportunity to tune to nature's sounds such as the rustling of leaves, flowing of river water and chirping of birds. If you hike along trails, you will be able to appreciate the wonderful sights and sounds of the surroundings. If you want to, you can experience canoe rides along the shores of quiet lakes and listen to the noise of water lapping against the sides of the boat. In the evening, you can enjoy the simple pleasure of sitting around a campfire and listening to the crackling sounds of burning wood.

During a camping trip, activities such as boating, fishing, photography, painting and campfire singing can be included in the program to make it more fun and exciting. Some lightweight musical instruments like recorder, flute, harmonica or guitar can be brought along to make the singing session more enjoyable. For some couples who look forward to spending a romantic time together, they can pitch a tent next to a lake. When they wake up the next morning, they can see the beautiful scene of sunbeams flickering across the shimmering surface of the pond.

Camping is an opportunity for family members and relatives to stay in touch with one another. Family members, though staying together, may not have time to remain connected. Communication is sometimes limited due to busy work schedules. Hence, a well-planned camping trip during the weekend can certainly help to bring the whole family together. In a relaxed surrounding away from home, all of them can have an enjoyable time doing activities together and the shared experience can indeed create better bonding.

As camping is suitable for both young and old, a camping trip can be planned as an extended family reunion. It can be considered as an annual vacation for grandparents and grandchildren. It is good for children to go for camping as they can have hands-on learning experience on living outdoors and appreciate the natural environment. Through camping, they can understand more about living creatures in their natural habitat and nature preservation. More possibly, through these trips, some of these young campers discover their love for nature and end up being dedicated conservationists.

Friends can also come together in an outing such as a camping adventure to learn more about one another. Through eating, talking, playing and doing camping chores together, relationships can be enhanced. Quite often, people move due to job changes and company relocations and it is difficult to maintain long distance relationships. Camping can be an opportunity to new old relationships, especially with people whom we have not met for a long time.

Camping is an ongoing learning experience. Every camping trip is a time of learning and discovery. Starting with a little knowledge in the beginning, you will acquire more and more knowledge about camping as you go along. Camping is a wonderful adventure. It enables you to discover more about wildlife and nature. Besides, if you are sharing this adventure with your family and friends, you will not forget the wonderful memories it brings.

RV Park Pals.
Tuesday, February 13, 2007, 01:29 PM - General
My husband and I are retired and have been for three years now. We enjoy traveling in our RV. This is a great way to see America. I mean you really see America this way and not just through a windshield traveling down the interstate highway system. By staying in RV parks, you get to know the people of America. This is a terrific way to meet new friends and view the different lifestyles of folks across the country. We have met the most interesting people that we have ever met in our travels since we have been retired than we ever did working nine to five jobs.

We were staying in a California RV park, some two thousand miles from home, when met a couple that lived just a mile or so down the road from us. Imagine the surprise when we learned that we were camping with our neighbors that we had never met in all of the years that we lived so close by. It took a two thousand mile trip for us to meet. We became very good friends and now we even travel together occasionally.

We have stayed in several RV parks in Branson Missouri. On one such occasion we happened to meet my husband's cousin whom he hadn't seen in twenty years or so. We had a great time reminiscing and catching up on our families. Their children are grown and we found out that their son and our son works for the same company.

About a year ago while staying at a Biloxi RV park, we met a very nice couple from Nashville, Tennessee. We have visited them since and they took us to the Grand Ole Opry. They also showed us some very interesting sites in the Nashville area that we did not know existed. It was a wonderful vacation and we got to see things that only a local resident would know about.

We now have many new friends that we have met in RV parks. Several of them visit us at our home, and many of them whom we stay in touch with meet us at a particular park somewhere. We have had so much fun travel throughout the United States and actually meeting the people of this great country.

Family Fun: 3 reasons why you should take your family camping.
Friday, February 9, 2007, 09:04 PM - Children
Posted by Administrator
If you are looking for family fun then you should take your family camping. When I was a kid my parents took me on vacations all up and down the Eastern Seaboard. We spent time on the Atlantic Ocean and numerous smaller bodies of water as well as various spots along the St. Lawrence Seaway. We visited many U.S. states and Canadian provinces. My family was not, and still is not, rich but could afford such varied and far-flung vacations because of camping. If you have not before considered camping for your next family vacation then you should consider these reasons why you should take your family camping.

The primary reason many people choose camping for their family vacations is that it is a cheap vacation. You can drastically cut down on food and lodging expenses when camping. In addition, many campgrounds come with free or inexpensive entertainment and recreation venues and opportunities.

Another important benefit of camping for your family vacation is that it allows for more time together as a family with fewer distractions. Many so-called family destinations offer entertainment targeted to parents or children so the family does not spend much time together. One of the main reasons families vacation together is to enjoy each other's company and camping makes this easier to achieve than many destination resorts.

Finally, camping creates lasting memories that children will carry with them long after they have left your home. The adventures you face, the games you play, and the experiences you share will teach you about yourself as well as your children and help build both character and memories to last a lifetime. A family camping vacation can be in a distant location or a long weekend close to home but spending time together without the many distractions offered by our modern lifestyles can only help strengthen the bonds of your family.

You should consider camping when planning your next family vacation for these three reasons: it is a cheap vacation, provides the opportunity for quality time with your family, and creates lasting memories and builds stronger family bonds.
