Reconnect With Your Kids - Take The Family Camping.

For those of us camping enthusiasts that have the opportunity to experience all four seasons, spring is an especially wonderful time of the year. After the cold and sometimes dreary days of winter, many families look forward to the warm fresh spring air, and the beauty that accompanies the warming temperatures. Children are itching to get outside to play in the warmth of the spring sun almost as much as adults are ready to be over winter’s last round of cabin fever. What better way is there to reconnect with your kids than to spend some quality time with them camping? After spending the winter months glued to the television, or becoming zombies from playing video games, a fun-filled family camping trip is the perfect way to experience nature and create lasting family memories.

Your number one priority of course, is the safety of your family, so to ensure that your family camping trip is a success, you must be prepared! Take time to plan your trip according to your family’s interests and camping skills, and you are sure to have a great time! What kind of camping facilities would be the best choice for your family? For the less experienced camper, utilizing State and National forests are a great way to introduce your kids to the joy of camping. The internet offers endless information on many privately owned campgrounds that offer great accommodations for the novice camper.

Take an inventory of your camping equipment well in advance of your camping trip. This will ensure that you will be well prepared and will allow you to enjoy the family trek to the great outdoors without the added stress of trying to “make do without”. Your camping equipment needs will vary based on the type of camping you will be doing. The following is a general list of camping gear that you should have for any trip to the wilderness with your family:

o First aid kit – well stocked and replenished
o Tent with Rain Fly and Foot Print or ground cloth
o Sleeping Bags with appropriate rating for temperature
o Camping Mattresses
o Rain Gear
o Flashlights
o Extra Batteries
o Camping Stove and Fuel
o Camping Lantern and Fuel
o Camping Cook set
o Water Carriers
o Waterproof containers
o Bug Repellant
o Camping Cooler

My family’s annual spring camping trip is just around the corner, and we are all “chompin’ at the bit” to go! We set up camp on the bank of the Meramec River in Missouri. Although the temperature in mid-March is still a bit cool in the morning and evening, we have found that as long as we are prepared, it doesn’t matter. We make sure to build a nice fire, and pack some extra sweats, and we are good to go!

A Pop Up Camper Offers The Best Of Both Worlds.
Thursday, March 29, 2007, 07:02 PM - Pop Up Campers
If you are one of the millions of people who enjoy camping then you do not need to be told about the allure of open spaces, fresh air, and time away from the rush of civilization. You also do not need to be told about the chilly nights, biting bugs, dirty tents, and makeshift bathroom facilities that campers must endure. For those who enjoy camping but can do without the down-and-dirty experience that roughing it entails, campers often bridge the gap for them.

Campers are available in many different shapes and sizes. From gigantic RVs (recreational vehicles) to smaller camper vans, there is a vehicle that can suit nearly any sized family with nearly any amenity you can imagine. But what about those individuals who do not wish to purchase a vehicle that is only suitable for camping? It is not surprising to learn that most people possess neither the space nor resources to store and maintain a massive RV that is only used a handful of times per year. For those for whom a RV is not an option there is another option, and that is the pop up camper.

A pop up camper is a collapsible camper that is towed behind your regular vehicle. When not it in use the camper is detached from your car or truck and can reduce in size so that it can be stored easily in a garage, or inconspicuously in your backyard. Unlike their RV counterparts, pop up campers are essentially out of sight until you need them. But when it is time to head to the campground, the camper comes to life, and when properly outfitted they can offer all the comforts of home.

Those of us who have childhood memories of campers from years past might think of pop up camping as a rather spartan experience. Early pop up campers were a simple shell that folded out to provide sleeping space, but little else. In essence, they were a large tent that sat off the ground and offered more space and protection from the elements than a conventional tent, but in the end they were more like tents than a mobile home. Oh, how things have changed!

Late model pop up campers use modern materials and technology to reduce their weight, allowing for more amenities and options. While a bathroom is a rare convenience, many other comforts of home can be found in today's pop up camper designs.

* Propane tanks for cooking * hot water * stove, oven * refrigerator * air conditioning * heating * storage space and * batteries

Together all of these will let you camp far away from a hardwired campground. In other words, these campers offer just about anything you would ever need to enjoy a weekend in the woods.

And do not worry, modern pop up campers are easy to fold and unfold as well. With minimal practice you can have your pop up camper ready for use in less time than it takes to check in to a hotel!

If the joys of a pop up appeal to you and you are interested in trying it out, make sure to inform yourself further before making a purchase. Check the specifications of your car or truck to see how much weight it can safely pull, and try not to be skeptical when your camper salesman tries to sell you an upgraded anti-sway trailer hitch.

A good quality hitch can eliminate dangerous swaying and shaking that can happen when towing your camper at higher speeds, and it is worth every penny because it not only protects your investment, it protects your passengers and other motorists as well.

Once you find a pop up camper that suits your needs, destinations, family, and automobile, then all that is left to do is pick out where you want to camp and hit the road! A pop up camper provides your family with a home away from home at a fraction of the cost of an RV - making them as popular as ever.

Glacier National Park.
Friday, March 23, 2007, 06:30 PM - Montana
If you like the outdoors and scenery that's hard to beat anywhere on the planet, Glacier National Park may be the place for you. Located in beautiful Northwest Montana and extending into Canada, this National Park is one of the most beautiful in the entire United States. If you enjoy fishing, hiking, animal watching, camping, mountain biking, swimming, or most other outdoor activities, Glacier National Park is the place for you.

Glacier National Park is one of the largest and most intact ecosystems in North America. There are over fifty glaciers within the park, thus the name. There are also over 200 lakes and streams in Glacier National Park. The largest lake is Lake Macdonald, and the various streams and river hold nice populations of wild trout. There are also over 730 miles of trails for hikers to enjoy within Glacier National Park. Hiking is probably one of the most popular activities within the park. If you go hiking in this area of the country having bear spray with you is always a good idea. Glacier National Park is home to a decent population of wild grizzly bears.

The Park is divided from east to west by Going-to-the-Sun road. It's a spectacular drive, and if you go once you'll realize where the road got its name. Bisecting the heart of the park, this fifty mile long road hugs the shores of the parks two largest lakes and then goes right below the cliffs of the Continental Divide as it traverses Logan Pass. If you're looking for more information, there are visitor centers that have maps throughout the park to help you. Glacier Park Inc. operates a daily shuttle service along this road from July 1st to Labor Day weekend.

The glaciers that you find in Glacier National Park today are all geologically new, having formed in the last few thousand years. Presently, all of the glaciers within Glacier National Park are shrinking. In other words, more snow melts each year than accumulates each winter. As the climate has changed over the last two million years, glaciers have formed and melted away many times. So at the end of the day, this process is as it should be.

The Park itself is full of wildlife. Although there are to many species to list here, some of them would include: mountain goats, white tailed and mule deer, elk, moose, black bear, grizzly bear, mountain lions, and various rodents and birds. If you're interested in viewing wildlife, Glacier National Park won't disappoint. There are also many fish species located in the rivers and lakes throughout the Park. Most of the fish are in the trout family and would include: lake, rainbow, cutthroat, brook, and bull trout.

The bottom line is that if it's outdoor activities and scenery that interest you, Glacier National Park is the place for you. Whether your favorite activity is rafting, fishing, hiking, camping, driving, or biking you'll find it within the boundaries of Glacier National Park.

The New Face Of Camping.
Wednesday, March 21, 2007, 03:01 PM - General
Camping has come a long way. For many, camping is not throwing up a tent, grabbing the fishing poles, lanterns, sleeping bags and cooler of food. Camping has become an art and is full of creature comforts.

Campgrounds have also evolved. With modern amenities like HOT and cold running water, small convenience shops, even private golf courses and cable tv hookups, they are more like resort destinations.

A new convenience that is popping up all over the camper world is electric scooters. Electric scooters are being accepted more and more at campgrounds and you can see them everywhere. Some campgrounds have taken it a step further and offer scooter rentals.

Why have electric scooters enjoyed such an increase in popularity? Electric scooters are compact, convenient, and allow you to cover more ground than by walking alone.

Electric scooters are compact and most can fold down for easy storage. Whether you have an RV or an SUV, your electric scooter will fold down and can fit without taking up a lot of space.

Electric scooters afford those that love the outdoors the ability to keep enjoying it. If you have problems walking, standing for long periods of time, or have minimal back problems; electric scooters are your ticket to getting back to nature. With an electric scooter, you can hit the trails again.

If you think about it, you can save money by adding one to your camping supplies. When you want to take those short trips, you don't have to waste gas by taking the car, truck or RV. Hop on your scooter and save your gas money. With the cost of gas these days and no relief in sight, who knows how much money you will save by taking your electric scooter instead of your RV.

If you have forgot something and need to run to the local mini-mart, just hop on your scooter and you're there and back in minutes, and you still have the time and energy to enjoy the rest of your day. You've started the campfire and just realized you don't have enough marsh-mellows. No problem, some electric scooters have lights on them, so jump on yours and get to the store and back in a flash. No one has to go without their "SMORES" today.

Kids love electric scooters and what better way to get them to enjoy camping than to let them bring their scooter with them? With a kids electric scooter, you don't have to worry about them complaining while out on a trail. Exploring can take on a whole new meaning when they have their scooters. Taking the scooter with you on a trail will ease the headache of hearing "I'm Tired" or "How Much Farther?". They will be more into cruising ahead and will actually take in some sights.

Overall, with camping joining the 20th Century, you can't go wrong with the addition of an electric scooter to your camping ensemble. Keeping the kids entertained, giving back the freedom to the walking impaired and giving you more time to enjoy the outdoors are just some of the benefits of electric scooters. Take your electric scooter just about anywhere and see nature the way you never have before.

Friday, March 16, 2007, 05:52 PM - California
California is a great place to go camping because of the warm temperatures and the great terrain. Many areas also feature beautiful scenery and great places for picnics, hiking, and fishing.
