MADD is not a crusade against alcohol consumption - MADD's mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underage drinking. Since being founded in 1980 by Candy Lightner and a small group of other mothers, MADD has grown to one of the largest crime victims organizations in the world. The problems of drunk driving and underage drinking are not limited by race, nor are their victims.
